About

Cody studied psychobiology and neuroanatomy at both UAB and Auburn University. During a trip to South Korea in 2012 to teach English, he badly hurt his back exercising and was bedridden for days. After a trip to the hospital where he received a massage, he was finally able to walk again unaided. Immediately after returning to the States, he started massage school at the Birmingham School of Massage and acquired his license in 2014. He now owns his massage therapy practice in Homewood, Alabama operating alongside Dr. Robert Spiegle's internal medicine practice. He is now the Anatomy and Physiology instructor at the Birmingham School of Massage. Sports therapy has included working with the Men's Basketball Team at UAB and Florida Atlantic University's Women's Track Team for many years. As a teacher and lifelong academic, he enjoys learning different bodywork modalities and furthering his education on the human body. When not working he enjoys hiking and running in the outdoors with his beloved dog, Aura.

In addition to my technical skills, I believe in creating a comfortable and inviting space where clients can fully relax and rejuvenate. I am committed to fostering a sense of trust and open communication, ensuring that your massage experience is not only therapeutic but also tailored to your individual wellness goals.

Swedish

One of the most frequently performed types of massage therapy. Swedish utilizes soothing rhythmic strokes, specific frictions, and joint mobilizations to promote relaxation by helping ease stress and reduce pain.

Deep Tissue

This massage modality is helpful for addressing chronic pain patterns that have been bothersome for a while. Utilizing a very firm and deep pressure with slow strokes to identify and isolate tension in muscles that lie further below the body's surface.

Neuromuscular Therapy

This is a form of soft tissue manipulation that aims to alleviate chronic muscle tightness and nervous system disorders. It focuses on different trigger points in the body that correlate with having referred pain symptoms (like sciatica pain in the leg and foot possibly coming from the hip, or carpal tunnel like pain coming from the neck or chest muscles). Neuromuscular Therapy applies a static hold technique followed by stretching the affected area to address nerve compression, postural problems, and injuries from repetitive movement.

Sports Massage

Used for pre-event or intra-event athletics. Hyper-focused work on specific areas correlated to the athlete. Joint mobilization and jostling techniques are applied to wake up and flush out the muscle tissue before stretching techniques help realign connective tissue fibers in the tendons and ligaments. Deep work is usually contraindicated and avoided before or during a sporting event to help minimize cramping.

Prenatal Massage

Full body Swedish relaxation massage with few modifications to body positioning that ensures safety and comfort for both mother and baby.

Craniosacral Therapy

Extremely light touch bodywork modality that addresses cerebrospinal fluid flow and production by using specific holds on bony landmarks along the skull, spine, and sacrum. Five grams, the weight of a nickel coin, is usually too much pressure for this modality. This modality is very still and quiet and can be done fully clothed. It is a soothing and meditative way to return the mind and body to a relaxing homeostasis.
